Dr. Pena is Kentucky Blood Center's Medical Director. He is a native of the Dominican Republic where he obtained his medical degree. In the United States he trained in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at New York Hospital-Queens and did his Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine Fellowship at the University of Texas-MD Anderson Cancer Center. Currently, he is an assistant professor in the department of Pathology and the department of Medicine at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
