Kentucky Slams the Gators!

We did it! Thanks to our many generous donors, Kentucky Blood Center grabbed another Big Blue Slam victory. Our annual blood battle with Florida, which took place January 23-27, helped us maintain a healthy blood supply for Kentucky patients through the rest of the winter.

Big Blue Slam gives Kentucky basketball fans the chance to prove that they bleed blue by donating blood. Big Blue Slam is a blood battle between basketball fans of the University of Kentucky and the University of Florida, as well as a friendly rivalry between KBC and LifeSouth Community Blood Center in Gainesville.

All donors received a Big Blue Slam T-shirt and were entered to win an entertainment package including a 50" 3-D Smart TV, Blu-Ray home theater system, X-Box 360 with Kinect, and a popcorn machine. Thank you to all the donors who came out to prove that they Bleed Blue.

The competition helped keep our shelves stocked, but the need for blood never goes away.
