"Life is a miracle; saving one is the same as creating one." (unknown)
This message currently hangs on one of the bulletin boards at our Lexington - Beaumont facility. It is written in crayon, most likely the creation of a child visiting Kentucky Blood Center (or possibly the work of a young blood recipient). What a wonderfully mature thought from a very small person!
We can only fulfill our mission of saving lives with the help of generous and altruistic blood donors like you. Blood donors are selfless people who by donating their blood save lives every day. KBC does not save lives, our dedicated donors do.
As we begin our 43rd year of service to the Commonwealth, we are asked to provide more blood and blood products than ever before. Kentucky's hospitals are providing some of the best medical care in the country, and our job is to have a safe and continuous blood supply available for them when needed. The communities we serve are seeing more organ transplants, increased availability of sophisticated surgeries and the very best in cancer treatment. All of these healing procedures require blood products in addition to skilled physicians and great hospitals.
If you are currently a blood donor, thank you for your support of our mission. If you have never donated, or if it has been a while, I encourage you to create your own miracle one donation at a time.
