The Kentucky Blood Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that operates under the guidance of its volunteer Board of Directors. KBC is dedicated to ensuring a safe, adequate blood supply for patients at nearly 70 Kentucky hospitals and clinics in more than 60 counties. In the past year KBC processed and distributed 82,000 red blood cell units and 127,000 blood components in total.
William Reed, President and CEO, is the organization’s fifth chief executive officer in its forty-two year history. Prior to joining KBC in 2008, Reed worked at two other community based blood centers in senior management positions
KBC employs more than 240 people who provide the professional expertise to recruit donors, collect blood donations, process and test donated units and distribute blood products to hospitals. The executive management team is comprised of the following individuals.
