Kentucky Blood Center is one of the largest recruiters of volunteers in central and eastern Kentucky, needing about 100,000 volunteer blood donors to give blood each year! As a volunteer blood donor, you are a lifesaver!

KBC also utilizes community volunteers in a variety of other settings. The largest number of volunteers work at the Lexington Donor Center: however, volunteers work throughout the service area helping to deliver blood to area hospitals, organizing blood drives, recruiting blood donors, promoting and publicizing the drive, and working at the drive to interact with donors.

KBC volunteers in Lexington fill out a volunteer application and attend an orientation. Jobs include:

• Donor Café host and hostesses
• Administrative assistant— tasks such as filing, sorting, labeling, collating and more
• Hospital Services driver
• Serving as a greeter or donor traffic controller during special community blood drives events
