Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is one of the largest recruiters of volunteers in central and eastern Kentucky, needing about 100,000 volunteer blood donors to give blood each year. As a volunteer blood donor, you are a lifesaver!

In addition to blood donations, KBC utilizes community volunteers in a variety of other settings. The largest number of volunteers serve as blood drive chairpersons, helping to organize blood drives. Volunteers also work throughout the service area helping to deliver blood to area hospitals, recruiting blood donors, promoting and publicizing blood drives, and interacting with donors at blood drives.

Lexington KBC volunteers fill out a volunteer application and attend an orientation. Jobs include:

• Donor Café Host and Hostesses
• Administrative Assistant
• Hospital Services Driver
• Greeter or Donor Traffic Controller at special community blood drive events
