LEXINGTON, Ky. – Donating blood with Kentucky Blood Center can save a Kentucky patient’s life, but donating is also rewarding in other ways.

Beginning Saturday, donors will receive a Win, Place & Show You Care T-shirt. They’ll also be automatically entered to win one of two prizes: four VIP passes to the Kentucky Derby Festival’s Thunder Over Louisville on April 22 or two tickets to see U2 in concert at Papa John’s Stadium on June 16.

“KBC has been supporting Kentucky patients in the Commonwealth since 1968, and we are proud to partner with the Kentucky Derby Festival to celebrate this great tradition with generous blood donors,” said Bill Reed, KBC’s President and CEO, who added that blood collected by KBC stays in Kentucky to help Kentucky patients.

KBC donor centers are listed below.

For more information about Kentucky Blood Center or to find other donation locations, donors can call 800.775.2522 or visit kybloodcenter.org. No appointments are necessary but can be made by visiting kybloodcenter.org and clicking on the Donor Portal at the bottom of the page.

Blood donors must be 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.
