LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Cats and the Cards will meet on the gridiron Sept. 2, but another Battle of the Bluegrass is Aug. 20-31 at Kentucky Blood Center donor centers and blood drives.

Donors, who will get a chance to vote for Kentucky or Louisville when they register to give blood, will receive a Battle of the Bluegrass T-shirt and a chance to win the following prizes:

  • A pair of tickets for three University of Kentucky football games
  • A Commonwealth Stadium suite pass for two for an upcoming game
  • A 2012 Toyota Rav4 SUV, which is the grand prize of Kentucky Blood Center’s Summer4Life

“Good donor turn out for Battle of the Bluegrass will ensure an adequate blood supply heading into the Labor Day weekend,” said Martha Osborne, executive director of marketing and recruitment. “All blood donors are needed, especially those with negative blood types.”

To schedule a donation to help pump up the blood supply, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800.775.2522.

Everyone who registers to give blood through Sept. 14 is eligible to win the RAV4.

Blood donors must be 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old doors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.
