New Executives Join Kentucky Blood Center Sept. 21, 2010

Dennis Williams, Luann McDaniel Join KBC Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Two new executives have recently joined Kentucky Blood Center.

Dennis J. Williams, MD, is the new Medical Director at Kentucky Blood Center. A graduate of Wabash College in Indiana and the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Williams completed his pathology residency at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. Most recently, Williams finished a one-year Fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at Hoxworth Blood Center in Cincinnati. Williams is also an Assistant Professor in Pathology and Transfusion Medicine at the University of Kentucky.

Luann McDaniel, RN, has been named the new Executive Director of Blood Collections for Kentucky Blood Center. Prior to coming to Kentucky, McDaniel was the Director of Donor Services for the Indiana Blood Center in Indianapolis, where she was employed for 19 years. Before starting her career in blood banking, McDaniel managed a pediatric unit at an Indianapolis community hospital for 15 years. McDaniel holds degrees from Purdue University and Ball State University.

KBC relies on volunteers to donate 400 units of blood per day to meet area patients’ needs. Over the last year KBC distributed nearly 130,000 blood components.
