Catholics Care Spring Blood Drives

Catholics Care logo

Kentucky Blood Center is proud to partner with the Catholics Care to create meaningful opportunities for Catholics to give back to the community and to fulfill Christ's command to heal the sick.

One in four people will need a blood transfusion in their lifetime for everything from traumas to cancer treatments, diseases, blood disorders, organ transplants, routine surgeries and so much more. Blood transfusions are one of the most common procedures performed in hospitals.

Unfortunately, only about 3% of the U.S. population donates blood even though 62% are eligible to do so. Blood cannot be manufactured, so the only way to save the lives of those who need blood is through the generosity of donors.

Blood donation is easy, efficient and has a major impact. One whole blood donation – which only takes 45 minutes to an hour from registration to refreshment – can save up to three lives.

Graphic that states 62% of people are eligible to give blood but only 3% do.

There are four upcoming opportunities this spring to donate at one of the diocese's parishes or schools. Please see the links below to schedule your appointment or call 800.775.2522.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo ID and meet additional requirements.
