Friday marks the official start of summer. Kentucky Blood Center is celebrating the new season with $20 Amazon gift cards at all donor centers.

Donors who give blood at a KBC donor center on Friday, June 20 will receive a $20 Amazon gift card as a thank you for boosting the summer blood supply.

Blood donations historically dwindle during the summer because of warm-weather activities, family vacations and no school. The need for blood doesn’t take a break, however, and transfusion levels often increase as donation frequency decreases.

In addition to Friday's gift cards, one lucky donor who gives blood in June will win free gas for a year. One lucky donor who gives blood in June will win 52 $50 Marathon gift cards. See rules and conditions below.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo ID and meet additional requirements.
