KBC’s Head Elected to National Organization’s Board
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Blood Center’s president and CEO William Reed was recently elected to the Executive Board of the Blood Centers of America, Inc.
Reed, who was named treasurer at BCA’s January meeting, leads KBC, which is a nonprofit headquartered in Lexington and dedicated to ensuring a safe, adequate blood supply for patients at nearly 70 Kentucky hospitals and clinics in more than 60 counties. KBC is the largest Food and Drug Administration licensed blood bank headquartered in Kentucky.
BCA is a member-owned organization comprised of 36 members including 35 independent blood centers geographically dispersed throughout North America, providing more than 46% of the U.S. blood supply. BCA provides contract management for the purchase of medical plastics; technology partnering for product development; operational improvements through consulting, best practices, new technologies, and shared resources; and data collection for benchmarking.
