Give & Give Again This Holiday Season Dec. 5, 2017

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Blood donors can give and give again this holiday season by donating blood and then opting to give the value of their donor thank you item to The Salvation Army.

Kentucky Blood Center donors generously save lives throughout the year, but now through Dec. 31 they can also help the less fortunate in their communities.

“It’s easy to help this holiday season,” said Martha Osborne, the blood center’s Vice President of Marketing. “Donors can roll up their sleeves, save a life and then tell us to give the value of their thank you gift to The Salvation Army.

“We enjoy providing this opportunity to blood donors, and they seem to like it too. Since 2010, generous donors have not only saved Kentucky lives during the holidays, but they have also contributed more than $44,000 to The Salvation Army in their communities,” said Osborne.

Donors can give and give again at any KBC mobile blood drive or at one of the KBC donor centers listed below.

To find a mobile blood drive or for more information about blood donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800.775-2522, ext. 3758.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. Donors must also show a photo I.D. with first and last name, like a state-issued driver’s license. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.
