You Have the Power to Save Lives
University of Kentucky students, faculty and staff can start the school year off on the right foot by donating blood and helping save local lives. Kentucky Blood Center will host a five-day blood drive Aug. 31–Sept. 4 to collect blood and supply local hospitals – including UK HealthCare – with lifesaving blood.
Three locations are available to donate. All drive times will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Gatton Student Center (Ballroom A): Monday–Friday, Aug. 31–Sept. 4
- William T. Young Library (KBC Bloodmobile): Monday & Tuesday, Aug. 31 & Sept. 1
- Lewis Honors College (Scholars Student Lounge): Thursday & Friday, Sept. 3 & 4
All donors will receive a "Grab a Slice of Saving Lives" T-shirt, a coupon for a free 7-inch pizza from Donatos Pizza and a $10 Starbucks gift card. KBC will also make a $5 donation to a DanceBlue team of a donor's choosing for giving blood (donor must fill out a slip at donation). KBC is proud to partner with UK Invests. A deposit will be provided by UK Invests into the enrolled accounts of students who participate in the blood drive.
Donations typically take less than one hour and save up to three local lives. KBC provides blood to more than 70 hospitals in Kentucky, and 40% of all blood collected at KBC goes to UK HealthCare.

Three Locations Available to Donate
Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment, call 800.775.2522 or scroll down and click on a link below. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements.
