$20 Amazon Gift Cards are Back at Kentucky Blood Center July 17, 2023

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Donors who have not had a chance to take advantage of Kentucky Blood Center’s “Donor Appreciation Days” this summer need not fret, there is another opportunity Tuesday. KBC will again give away $20 Amazon gift cards to anyone who donates blood at a KBC donor center Tuesday, July 18.

Tuesday will mark the eighth Donor Appreciation Day of the summer. The giveaway, which is taking place this summer to counter historically poor turnout weeks during a period of traditionally high need, started May 30, meaning most donors have been eligible for a Donor Appreciation Day at this point. Additional days will take place this summer.

Donors hoping to take advantage of Tuesday’s gift card giveaway can schedule an appointment at a KBC donor center online at kybloodcenter.org/donate/donor-center-locations, by clicking on a donor center link below or by calling 800.775.2522. All donor centers are open Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome.

KBC operates eight donor centers in six cities (Lexington, Louisville, Corbin, Frankfort, Pikeville and Somerset). Blood collected at KBC serves patients at more than 70 hospitals in Kentucky. One in four people will need blood in their lifetime for everything from surgeries to diseases like cancer, traumas, organ transplants, premature births and so much more.

Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.
