LEXINGTON, Ky. – It’s time again for Big Blue Crush. The 21st annual blood drive competition between University of Kentucky and the University of Tennessee fans is Monday, Nov. 17 through Friday, Nov. 21.

All donors will receive the annual Big Blue Crush T-shirt and a gift from McDonald’s.

Monday donors can register to win two tickets to the UK-Tennessee game and an overnight stay at the Crowne Plaza in Knoxville on Sat., Nov. 29. On Tuesday, donors can register for a Cat Fanatic Package, which is loaded with UK items.

Big Blue Crush helps to ensure an adequate blood supply for patients during the holiday season. Last year, Tennessee won the competition which generated a record-breaking 6,000+ units for Kentucky and Tennessee hospitals. Tennessee fans lead the contest 10 to nine with one tie.

“This blood drive supports a friendly rivalry, but more importantly it gets blood for patients who will need it during the holiday season,” said Bill Reed, Kentucky Blood Center president and CEO.

Those wanting to donate blood can call 1-800-775-2522 or visit kybloodcenter.org for blood drive and donor center for details. Appointments are recommended.

The Kentucky Blood Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring a safe, adequate blood supply for 67 Kentucky hospitals and clinics thanks to generous blood donors in 62 counties.
