LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Big Blue Crush trophy is staying in Kentucky. Wildcat fans held on to the lead and beat Tennessee, 3,219 to 2,969.
“We’re a big blue nation of life savers, and Kentucky patients are the big winners,” said Bill Reed, Kentucky Blood Center President & CEO.
This was the 24th annual Big Blue Crush. Kentucky has now won two years in a row. Tennessee still leads the rivalry 12 to 11 with 1 tie.
The trophy presentation will be during the Kentucky-Tennessee football game, Nov. 26.
Kentucky Blood Center, the largest FDA regulated blood bank in Kentucky, is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring a safe, adequate blood supply for patients at nearly 70 Kentucky hospitals and clinics in more than 60 counties. KBC relies on volunteers to collect 400 pints of blood per day to meet area patients’ needs. Over the last year KBC distributed nearly 130,000 blood components.
