LEXINGTON, Ky. – It’s time again for Cat fans to show they bleed blue during the 26th annual Big Blue Crush blood drive competition between Kentucky and Tennessee fans.

Blood donors will receive a long-sleeve Big Blue Crush T-shirt and a coupon for a McDonald’s McCafe’ beverage. Monday and Tuesday donors will also be eligible to win two tickets to the Kentucky-Tennessee football game on Saturday, Nov. 30 at Commonwealth Stadium.

Besides being a fun competition between Kentucky and Tennessee fans and Kentucky Blood Center and Medic Regional Blood Center in Knoxville, Tenn., this yearly blood battle also ensures a sufficient blood supply for Kentucky patients during the Thanksgiving holiday and into December.

Bragging rights are also on the line.

“The competition is tied 12 to 12 with one tie,” said Bill Reed, KBC’s president and CEO. “When we beat Tennessee this year we’ll take the overall lead, which we haven’t held in quite some time. We know Tennessee is planning a big week, but we believe our donors will rally and help keep the trophy in Kentucky for another year.”
