LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Blood Center had a big day Friday, but it wasn’t enough to topple the Gators in the 10th annual Big Blue Slam. Florida held on to win, 1,534 to 1,490.

“Even though we didn’t come out on top this year, it was a big win for Kentucky patients. This week went a long way to rebuilding the blood supply that was hit hard by winter weather earlier this month. Thanks to all who rolled up their sleeves to save lives,” said Martha Osborne, Vice President of Marketing for Kentucky Blood Center (KBC).

KBC and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Florida enjoy this friendly competition every January to see whose donors can give the most blood. Kentucky and Florida are now tied in this blood battle, 5 to 5.
