First-Ever Zombie Blood Drive at KBc April 22, 2013

Actors Guild, KBC Join Forces to Promote Blood, Theater

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Actors Guild of Lexington and Kentucky Blood Center are bringing the first-ever Zombie Blood Drive to life on Thursday, April 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Beaumont Donor Center, 3121 Beaumont Centre Circle in Lexington.

“Blood is needed in the event of accidents, illness or natural disasters, and that’s serious business. But this week, we’re having a little fun with a Zombie Blood Drive. You just never know when you’ll need blood in a Zombie Apocalypse,” said Martha Osborne, KBC’s executive director of marketing and recruitment.

Donors will have the chance to win tickets to the AGL upcoming production of “William Shakespeare’s Land of the Dead,” an apocalyptic comedy featuring great men of history surviving against the undead with both wit and sword. Donors will also have the opportunity to be made over into zombies by AGL make-up artists.

Zombies, compliments of AGL, will mingle with donors, who will also be treated to special Zombie snacks throughout the evening.

KBC is also especially urging those with O negative blood to donate soon.

To make an appointment to donate during the Zombie Blood Drive, zombie-wannabes are asked to call 859.276.2534 or visit kybloodcenter.org.

Blood donors must be 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must also have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org. All donors must present a photo I.D.
