LEXINGTON, Ky. – Pulaski County Schools Superintendent Steve Butcher will join the Kentucky Blood Center board of directors effective Jan. 1. KBC’s 20 member volunteer board provides oversight of the not-for-profit blood center.
“We are excited to have Steve join the blood center’s board. The Somerset region is an important part of our service area, and Steve will add a needed Somerset perspective to our team,” said KBC Board Chairman Dr. Sam McGee.
KBC has donor centers in Somerset, Lexington and Pikeville, and operates numerous daily blood drives throughout the region. KBC’s new facility in Somerset is located at 10 Stonegate Centre.
KBC, the largest FDA regulated blood bank headquartered in Kentucky, is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring a safe, adequate blood supply for patients at nearly 70 Kentucky hospitals and clinics in more than 60 counties. KBC relies on volunteers to donate 400 pints of blood per day to meet area patients’ needs. Over the last year KBC distributed nearly 130,000 blood components.
