Summer4Life Continues at KBC June 11, 2012

Fun Week Includes World Blood Donor Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Summer4Life continues at Kentucky Blood Center with a celebration of World Blood Donor Day and other fun promotions this week.

Nexcare is providing “Giving Blood is Timeless” bandages to donors all week to celebrate World Blood Donor Day, which is Thursday. Donors can also visit the Nexcaregive.com to request free bandages and to enter to win a trip for two to New York City.

In addition to receiving a KBC Summer4Life T-shirt, all donors will also be entered to win four tickets to the June 28 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series UNOH 225 at Kentucky Speedway. To add to the fun, anyone 18 years and older who registers to give blood will also be automatically eligible to win a 2012 Toyota RAV4, which KBC will give away in September.

“Here in Kentucky the need for blood donors is ongoing. The demand for blood never takes a vacation, and we encourage our donors to give as often as possible,” said Bill Reed, KBC president and CEO. “The Nexcare give program aids us in raising awareness of this need and bringing the community together to make a difference and help to save lives. We thank Nexcare for their support.”

“We are committed to raising awareness for the ongoing need for blood donation, and are passionate about thanking those who donate regularly,” said Luiz Castro, global business manager, Nexcare Brand, Consumer Health Care Division.

KBC has donor centers in Lexington, Pikeville and Somerset, as well as blood drives throughout the region. To find a donation location or to schedule a donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800.775.2522.
